A New Toy

I'm not really a big gadget fan.  I like to keep things simple.  But this week, I couldn't resist the temptation to treat myself to a wool winder.

It's not an essential item.  The lack of one doesn't in any way impede your knitting or crocheting.  But there's something about the lovely squishy balls of colourfulness that the winder makes that appeals.  And I'm sure having all my yarn converted into these lovely 'cakes' will make my crocheting and knitting even more enjoyable than it already is.

Because once you start winding the balls, it's impossible to stop.

The first of many!

So that's my weekend sorted!  Enjoy yours, whatever you are doing.

  1. I bought one of them a few weeks back but got in an awful tangle. Which isn't good as I need to wind the yarn into cakes to knit a top. I'm going to have another go soon x

    1. I must admit that I did get in a few tangles at first but I think I've worked out a technique now.

  2. use your left hand and let it be an extension of the silver tension arm. try not to drop the yarn or you may have to pull back a bit to get winding again. Its addictive isn't it?
I love to look at the balls all nice and neat in my drawer.

  3. Once you get the hang of it it really is the most amazing thing isn't it!! The yarn is so easy to use as well after it has been made into cakes! xx

  5. I have a vintage one which I love, the winding does become a little addictive. The cakes look so beautiful on a shelf.
